  1. Assalam 'alaykum mawlana,

I would like to know if you're aware of the scholarly critics concerning this version of "futooh ash-shaam" that you translated (may Allah reward you for this). Some specialists seem to doubt the attribution of this specific work to Al-Waqidi (RA).

Here's the link to what Mufti Husain Kadodia (your compatriot) has to say on it: http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/showthread.php?53989-Khawla-Bint-Al-Azwar&p=888580&viewfull=1#post888580

I wish to know your opinion on this issue.

Jazakumullahu kheyran, keep up the good work.

  2. wa alaykumus salaam

I am aware that people who never criticised Mawlana Thanwi, Maseehullah, Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi and the like for reading and promoting Futhusham decades ago, only felt a need to criticise when the book was translated into English.

I am aware that even years after declaring what I suppose and hope they think to be their duty, they still harp on this, the greatest concern of their lives, whilst other scholars tackle matters of great threat in our times such as the rapid rise of Shiasm, or are jailed for speaking the truth.

I am aware that there are discrepencies in the book which I commented on at places just as I am aware that it is a history book and history is not a dead etched in stone subject as is generally believed. Take something a thousand years after Futhusham... who is the first president of the USA? Washington? Research the matter again. Holocaust or Holohoax?

I am aware that I am in need of Allah's mercy and beg for an easy reckoniong. However, if forced between two accountings, I would prefer to be amongst the sinners and hope for mercy, than to be the the company of those Ulama of this age who use every public forum to spread criticism, confusion and division. I will rather be a wrong sinner than a self righteous divider, but Allah save us all from either.
