What will survive when the Trumpet is blown?

Comment:

As Salaam Respected Sheikh. I have a question which I was hoping the honorable Sheikh could assist with. "I have heard that there are 7 or 8 things that wont be destroyed when the trumpet is blown. Is this true? Apparently the pen is one. If so, what are the others?

JazakAllah.

My Reply:

Firstly, allow me to tender my apology, for noticing  your comment, I normally receive an email alert which I do not see in this case.

As I have stated before, those who make claims, especially in matters of religion, are obliged to offer their proof. We are not obliged to research every claim without reference. However, it is in accordance with our belief that not everything will be destroyed when the Ṣūr [Trumpet] is blown at the end of the world. The details of this might not however accord with what you have heard.

The Trumpet will be blown into. All those in the heavens and on earth will lose their senses [die] except for those whom, Allah wills. [az-Zumar: 68]

The grammar of the verse indicates that the excepted ones are beings “من  – who” as opposed to inanimate or non-beings “ما  – what”. From this it would seem that al-Qalam [the Pen which wrote destiny] is a creation which will be destroyed and is not excepted.

The archangels

The complete and definite list of who is excepted is in the knowledge of Allah, but we know the archangels to be definitely excepted as narrated in several books of Tafsīr [commentary of the Qurān]:

وروي من حديث أنس أن النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - تلا : ونفخ في الصور فصعق من في السماوات ومن في الأرض إلا من شاء الله فقالوا : يا نبي الله ، من هم الذين استثنى الله تعالى ؟ قال : هم جبريل وميكائيل وإسرافيل وملك الموت
Anas narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم  recited, “The Trumpet will be blown into. All those in the heavens and on earth will lose their senses [die] except for those whom, Allah wills.” So they asked, O Prophet of Allāh! Who are those whom Allāh Most High will make an exception for?” He replied, “Jibrīl, [Gabriel], Mīkāīl [Michael], Isrāfīl and the Angel of Death.”

Mūsā – Moses peace be upon him

Do not express superiority of me over Mūsā. Mankind will lose their senses and I shall be the first to gain consciousness. Mūsā will be grabbing the side of the Throne. I do not know if he will be amongst those who lose consciousness and regained it before me, or will he be amongst those whom Allāh will make an exception for. [al-Bukhārī]

Other Suggestions

There are other possibilities which the scholars have deduced and might not be explicitly mentioned by the Prophet Yet all are animate:
·         The Angels who Bear the Throne.
·         Ridwaan, the angel in charge of the gates of Paradise.
·         Mālik, the angel in charge of the gates of Hell.
·         The Ḥūr – damsels of Paradise.
·         The martys.
·         The angels of Hell.
·         The punishing creatures of Hell.
None of the famous commentaries mention the Pen. If it is amongst the exceptions the claimant should provide proof.

To name the Haramayn like a family business

(Before commencing with this article I wish to point out a slight change in my writing style, beginning with this article. Given that the majority of Muslims are not conversant with Arabic, I believe in the importance of at least maintaining a common vocabulary of words which have general understanding amongst the bulk of Muslims. Thus I only use Rasūlullāh صلى الله عليه وسلم   and never accord “Prophet” and the like any special recognition. However, it has been brought to my attention that there are non-Muslim readers of my writings, or rather servants of Allāh who have not gained full understanding as yet. I therefore apologise beforehand if my writing appears clumsier. I am attempting to balance my principles without making Islām seem incoherent and secretive. May Allāh guide me to what is correct and what pleases Him).

In respecting the Ḥaramayn (sacred cities of Makkah and al-Madīnah), Muslims are not following blind custom but uphold the dignity and love Allāh Himself accords them. Even if nothing else were said in the Qurān and Ḥadīth, the affectionate titles Allāh bestows upon them in the Qurān, are sufficient indication for those of intelligence and faith. Thus, Makkah is the Mother of all towns, and al-Madīnah is The Abode (of Migration of Rasūlullāh – Allāh’s Messenger - صلى الله عليه وسلمas well as being the Abode of Faith itself).

And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming (The Revelations) which came before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter, believe in it and they guard their prayers. [al-An‘ām: 92]

And those who inhabited the Abode before them and believed [before their arrival] love those who migrated unto them. They found no desire in their hearts for what they had been given, [but instead] preferred them to themselves even if afflicted with dire poverty. Indeed those who save themself from the greed of the self are certainly the successful ones. [al-Ḥashr: 9]

As an extension of their love for Allāh and His Rasūl [Messenger]صلى الله عليه وسلم Muslims call these cities by many other names of respect and affection, e.g. aṭ-Ṭābah, aṭ-Ṭaybah -  the Pure City.  Many of these names originate from Allāh’s Messenger, Muḥammad

Naming a country after a family

The register of crimes of the Satanic Saudi regime includes many which no one ever before had perpetrated. Had these “first-ever” crimes not been so sad, it would have been humorous if one considers that the Saudi regime seems obsessed with labelling any practice they disagree with as “innovation.”  For example, they were the first to invite Christian and Jewish troops to trample the sacred soil of Arabia. They broke with the Islāmic tradition of affectionate names for Makkah and al-Madinah, and most audaciously they have been the first to rename the land as if it is some personal family estate or business, “SAUDI Arabia.”

Yes, had the Āl-Sa‘ūd founded some vegetable shop and called it Saudi Veggies, or keeping with their family activity, had they opened a casino and called it Casino Saud, then that would be their affair, but when they take the historically unprecedented step of naming the sacred lands as if it were their family business, it should be a matter of offence to every Muslim of dignity and concern.

Of great concern is how Muslims not only do not realise the gravity of this offence, or that it is an offence, but that that they casually say that they are visiting “Saudi/ Saudiyah”!!! Is that name integral to your understanding of the sacred cities? Why not drop the pernicious title of Islām’s enemies and say, “Arabia” instead? Indeed the best slave is one who does not realise he is a slave. How can Muslims accept this insult to the dignity of Islām when even the Christian monarchies never acted so arrogantly?

Christian Monarchies

·         Queen Elizabeth’s surname is supposedly Windsor, but that is a name to hide her German surname of Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha. In either case, her family has never arrogated either name over England or the United Kingdom, nor have any of the previous ruling families such as the Plantagenets, Hanoverians, Stuarts etc. The House of Saud supersedes them all in arrogance.

·         English ruling houses were relatively short-lived compared to the Capetians, who together with their relatives the Bourbons, ruled France from 987-1848. Nine centuries, but was France ever anything other than France? What utter arrogance, O House of Saud!

·          The Hohenzollerns ruled a little European county, Zollern, from before 1061. Eight centuries of epic expansion finally led to one of them being crowned over the united country of …. Hohenzollernia? No! One would think that if any family had the right to name their land after themselves it would be the family which took 8 centuries to unite their country. Yet they too did not have the arrogance of the House of Saud. A Hohenzollern was crowned in 1871 as GERMAN Emperor.

An Exception

The Saudis are not entirely alone however. Yet the nature of their company only emphasises the conceit of these two bedfellows.

The Liechtensteins bought Schellenberg in 1699 and Vaduz in 1712 for political reasons. In 1719 they were incorporated as the Principality of Liechtenstein. Since the “country” was bought solely for political reasons, no Liechtenstein prince even bothered to set foot in the county for over 120 years!

How similar to the Saudis who are more at home in their villas in Spain and France than in the land they named after themselves and which they milk like a cow.

Innovation

The innovation-obsessed Saudis need to answer for their criminal innovation of naming the sacred land of Makkah and al-Madīnah as if they are their family fiefs. This is an innovation no one before committed. This is but one crime out of many which make them wholly unsuited to rule a single grain of the sacred soil of Arabia. It is also a cover for their false claims of legitimacy. By maintaining silence on this matter, the Muslims too become complicit in the crimes of the Satanic Saudi regime. May Allāh grant that we see a day when the sun will rise on an Arabia free of the Saudi pollutant.

Daughter, Sister, Wife & Mother of Prophets?

Message sent to me:

Question: Who is the only woman whose father, husband, brother and son were Nabīs?

Answer: Layyā bint Ya‘qūb – her father was Ya‘qūb عليه السلام ; her husband was Ayyūb عليه السلام ; her brother was Yūsuf عليه السلام ; and her son was Ẓul Kifl عليه السلام .

My comment:

At the outset, it should be mentioned that there are many unheard of narrations circulating through the blessings of ash-Shaykh Email, al-Allāmah Blackberry and al-Mufti Facebook etc. The scholars are under no obligation to verify each of these circulations. The onus is upon the circulator to prove the authenticity of what he distributes.

Rasūlullāh صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “The burden of proof rests upon he who makes the claim.” [al-Bayhaqī]

That being said, my instinct tells me that the Layyā “narration” is but an attempt to provide a female equivalent to the Ḥadīth mentioning Yūsuf عليه السلام  as being Nabī, son of Nabī, son of Nabī, son of Nabī.

Daughter of Ya‘qub

Despite the story of Yūsuf عليه السلام  being the single most detailed continuous story narrated in the Qurān, the only names mentioned in it are that of his and that of his father. This is because the Qurān is a book of guidance and does not detail dates, names, places etc. as the Hebrew scripture does. However, it is permitted to refer to the Hebrew books for such details – where they make sense and do not contradict anything established by Islām – for Rasūlullāh صلى الله عليه وسلم  said:

عن عبد الله بن عمرو: "بلغوا عني ولو آية، وحدثوا عن بني إسرائيل ولا حرج، ومن كذب علي متعمداً، فليتبوأ مقعده من النار

Convey from me even if it be an Āyah. Narrate from the Children of Isrāīl and there is no harm in it. But he who intentionally lies against me should prepare his resting place in the Fire.” [al-Bukhārī]

According to Genesis, “Leah” or Layyā was a wife of Ya‘qūb عليه السلام  who bore him his only daughter, Dīnah. This already debunks the fictitious Layyā, supposed daughter of Ya‘qūb عليه السلام . Genesis further describes her being raped by an idol-worshipper. The Hebrew sources describe her only child, variously a boy or a girl, as the product of that rape. Even if a boy, it would be impossible for Dīnah/Layyā to be a mother of a Nabī, since the Qurān describes Prophets as pure of lineage. Ẓul Kifl عليه السلام  could not be the product of rape.

Sister of Yusuf

Firstly Yusuf عليه السلام  did not have a full sister. He was the son of Rachel (Rāḥil) whilst Dīnah was the daughter of Leah (Layyā). That aside, Dīnah has been discussed above.

Mother of Ẓul Kifl

Ẓul Kifl عليه السلام  is mentioned twice in the Qurān. Although suggestions have been made, he is not clearly identified with any figure in the Bible with absolute certainty. If we accept the suggested names, we also accept that none of them are grandchildren of Ya‘qūb عليه السلام. If we avoid the suggested names and restrict our discussion to Islāmic sources, then neither the Qurān nor Ḥadīth mention his mother. I cannot check every Tafsīr, but neither Ibn Kathīr, al-Baghawī nor al-Qurṭubī mention his mother. Surely being the grandson of Ya‘qūb عليه السلام  would have merited a mention?

Furthermore, the narration which the Books of Tafsīr quote from Ibn ‘Abbās , describing how Ẓul Kifl عليه السلام  attained his position, makes it abundantly clear that this was generations after Ya‘qūb عليه السلام  when there was a large population descended from him and a kingdom had been established. In other words, he was born after Mūsā عليه السلام  and was no son of any daughter of Ya‘qūb عليه السلام :

Allāh granted a Nabī from amongst the Prophets of Banū Isrāīl kingship and prophethood. Allāh revealed to him, “I intend to seize your soul. So present your kingdom to Banū Isrāī. He who guarantees (kifl) you that he will offer Ṣalāh until the morning; and fasts during the day without breaking it; and will judge amongst the people without becoming angry; then give him the kingdom.”

The Nabī stood amongst Banū Isrāīl and informed them of that. A young man stood…..

Wife of Ayub

The Mufassirūn have written extensively about the wife and children of Ayūb عليه السلام . They describe Allāh’s gifts to the Nabī who had succeeded in the tests put upon him. This included the loyal wife and restoration of his deceased children and additional offspring as well. They debate whether the children were resurrected or are to be restored in the Ākhirah. Again, neither Ibn Kathīr, al-Baghawī nor al-Qurṭubī mention his wife being the daughter of Ya‘qūb عليه السلام , which would have been a pertinent point in listing Allāh’s  favours in regards his family. Even the Bible does not mention her name.

In all the discussion on the offspring, none mentions Ẓul Kiflعليه السلام  as being amongst them. This would have been a most glaring omission in the light of the Qurān describing other prophets (Yūsuf, Yaḥyā and ‘Īsā) as gifts to the virtuous (Ya‘qūb, Zakarīyā and Maryam). How then does the Qurān and commentators maintain silence on Ẓul Kifl عليه السلام being the supposed son of Ayūb عليه السلام ? Although not a unanimous view, the possibility of Ayūb عليه السلام  being European and not Asian, makes the above parentage of an Asian Nabī even more farfetched.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Ummah should be far more careful of what they narrate as fact. In regards the above, I believe the balance of facts point to it being a fiction.
